Medical Device Reimbursement Strategy and Recruiting Services

What is your reimbursement strategy?

Medical device development appropriately focuses on two primary customers or end-users: providers and patients. There is a third customer often overlooked in the development process: third-party payers. Without the payers ultimately agreeing to cover and pay for your technology, there is little chance of long-term success for the product.

It is never too early to focus on this important customer. So, what is your strategy?

If you need our help, we will utilize our years of experience with the public and private insurance system to best position your innovative medical technology for expedient coding, positive coverage, and appropriate payment. Our approach underscores the early integration of reimbursement planning with the clinical, regulatory, marketing, and sales strategies for your technology.

Our services include:

  • Coding, coverage, and payment analysis
  • Early payer feedback on the clinical strategy and study design
  • Billing during your clinical trial
  • Coding applications and pull-through, including society relationship management
  • Support line development and management
  • Development of reimbursement tools, including reimbursement guides and payer value dossiers
  • Payer education and advocacy, including Medicare, Medicaid, commercial health plans, and workers' compensation

What is our recruiting process?

The reimbursement function is an essential and integral component of any innovative medical technology company, yet it remains the least understood role. When it comes to finding the right medical device reimbursement talent, clearly, there are some important questions to be answered first. So, we work with you to answer questions like these:

  • What type of experience is needed?
  • Is it essential for someone to have industry-specific experience, e.g., orthopedics, spine, cardiology, diagnostics, etc.?
  • What are the major challenges that must be addressed? Are they about coding, payment, and/or coverage? If the challenges relate to:
  • Coding - Do you need a certified coder? Can you work with a consultant instead of a direct hire?
  • Coverage - Is the focus on Medicare and/or commercial insurers?
  • Payment - Is the focus on inpatient, outpatient, physician office, laboratory, etc. fee schedules?
  • Based on these answers, what is the strategy, and what does it require in terms of the mix of talent? For example, is it just one person, or does it call for a team? If a team is needed, should they be in-house or in the field?

Most recruiting firms simply do not have the experience to ask or, more importantly, to answer these questions. We will, and we will then utilize our deep network of reimbursement professionals to find you the right talent.
