Why Recruiting?
There is little to no formal training for medical device reimbursement professionals – most of us have learned it “on the job.” Many reimbursement professionals start out in this industry as coding experts and then broaden their experience. Some of us come from health policy backgrounds, while others have worked for insurance companies, billing companies, hospitals, or physician offices, for example.
How we get into this profession can dictate the roles we are hired into. Reimbursement expertise can be delineated across the three “pillars” of the field: coding, payment, and coverage. Trained coders are often siloed into coding and/or payment functions, for instance. Those who have worked at insurance companies are often utilized in the field to work directly with those companies for coverage. Others who have customer service experience in other fields make the transition to work on reimbursement support lines. There are as many roles and pathways as people in this discipline.
Finding the right talent to address the challenges associated with your technology requires a fundamental understanding of these roles and experiences and how they will translate to your specific needs. This is what sets us apart from other recruiters and is "our why": we understand your needs from our direct experience, and we also understand the very specific skill set and proficiency that will best help you achieve reimbursement success.
